How to get started:
c'mon in, meet us, fill out some paperwork and get all the equipment you need to rock-climb.
one of our professional staff will get you up to speed on how to stay safe and have fun.
next thing you know, you're 35 ft. up on the walls.
Details:
Anybody who climbs in the gym must complete a waiver form prior to receiving an orientation or climbing.
All first time gym users must complete a mandatory training session. This training session includes the following:
Gym orientation (locker rooms, concessions, hours, etc...)
Harness and equipment usage: Only gym approved harnesses may be used. Rental harnesses are available and the correct way to put them on and use them safely will be taught.
Climbing shoes are also available for rental.
Figure Eight Knot: This is the only knot allowed in the gym.
Belaying: Correct belaying techniques and terms will be taught. Belay devices provided by the gym.
Climbing Ettiquette: Rules and ettiquette about bouldering (red line), rope usage.
Monthly and daily specials: These will be explained.
Kids under 12 must wear a helmet.
Kids under 12 will not be taught how to belay or tie the figure eight, unless they enroll in a Summer Camp or school program.
They must be accompanied by an adult who has completed the orientation. (see "Kidz Stuff")
The red line @ ~10 ft. is the maximum height to which a person may boulder.
Adults may boulder until their hands at the line, children must keep their hands below the line.
Rocks and Ropes reserves the right to deny or remove climbing privileges from any climber who does not follow the rules of the gym.
